Try FramdIt for Android before launch

The Android closed beta is open: you get the app on your phone before it reaches Google Play. Three steps, about five minutes.

No huge download, no account

FramdIt cuts out backgrounds with a model that ships inside the app and runs entirely on your phone. Nothing you photograph is uploaded, there is no sign-up, and the whole install is around 19 MB. It works with the plane on.

Before you start

How to join

Do these in order. If you open the testing link before joining the group, Play will tell you you are not a tester.

  1. Join the group

It is public: you join yourself, no approval needed. It is the same group used for every Great Dane Code beta.

    Join the group
  2. Opt in to the test

Use the same Google account you joined the group with.

Opt in to the test If Play says the test does not exist yet, the release is still clearing review: try again a bit later.
  3. Install from Google Play and start framing

Open a photo, let FramdIt cut the background, pick the marketplace you are listing on, and export.

If something goes wrong

Play says I am not a tester

You are not in the group, or you opened the link with a different Google account. Go back to step 1 and check which account is signed in to the Play Store.

The app does not show up in Play

Usually propagation, and it can take a few hours after joining. Wait a while, clear the Play Store cache, and try again.

Is it free?

The beta costs nothing and the core of the app is free: background removal, marketplace presets, sizing, padding and canvas colour. Some extras (album styles, text and arrow annotations) are a one-time Pro unlock, and there is an optional tip jar. No ads, no subscription.

Why does it want camera access?

Only so you can shoot a product photo without leaving the app. Pick from your gallery instead and you never have to grant it. Photos are processed on the phone either way.

How do I leave the beta?

Open the same opt-in link and choose to leave the programme, then uninstall. You can rejoin whenever you want.

Is this the same as the iPhone app?

Same idea, separate build. FramdIt for iOS is already on the App Store; this beta is the Android version catching up.
